What certifications should food packaging have?

What each assurance means

Not every seal says the same thing. It helps to know what each one certifies before comparing suppliers.

  • Food contact (FDA): the material is suitable for food contact under defined conditions.
  • Responsible fiber (FSC): the fiber comes from responsibly managed sources.
  • Sanitary registration (Invima): the sanitary assurance that applies in Colombia.
  • Recyclability: whether the packaging can be recycled given the material and the local collection system.

The data sheet matters as much as the seal

A seal describes the material or process; the technical data sheet describes the performance of the exact reference you will buy: maximum temperature, grease and moisture resistance, sizes, and storage conditions.

Always request both documents and compare them with your real process before scaling an order.

What to ask your supplier

Ask about food-contact suitability for the specific reference, fiber origin, available documentation, and whether the manufacturer can support a test with your recipe and baking curve.

ArtePack manufactures in Colombia and shares the technical information for each reference during the quote.
